Congratulations to the Desert Vista Winterguard for being named the 2013 WGAZ Scholastic A National Silver Medalist in the Winterguard Arizona State Championships at Grand Canyon University on April 6, 2013! With a late season surge and only two weeks left in the season, the group jumped from fifth to third and ended with an impressive second place finish. This is an amazing feat considering the group had to move up a division from last season after receiving the Silver Medal in the Scholastic AA division.
2013 marks the most successful competitive season for the program with such highlights as becoming a Winterguard International Finalist at both the Phoenix and San Diego Regionals for the first time in the school’s history! Congratulations to Coach Casey from our DV English Department and the talented students of the DV Winterguard on a season for the record books!
They would also like to give a very special thank you to our DV Director of Bands, Mr. Josh Thye, the DV Band Boosters and parents, and Dr. Battle and the administrative team for all of their support this season. Great students, great school, and great community…Go Thunder!
