GO BIG BLUE!

Is Marching Band For Me?

Marching Band is rewarding and fun, and it provides a great way for incoming students to get to know the school and make friends. However, it also takes a lot of time and dedication, so it’s a good idea to get all the facts before deciding to join. Please review the information here to get a feel for what is involved.

  • 1. VIEW THE SCHEDULE

Visit the MB Schedule page to get an understanding of the time commitment involved

  • 2. VIEW THE FAQ

Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page to see the answers to the most common questions

  • 3. EMAIL THE BAND

After viewing the schedule and FAQ, if you still have questions, please feel free to email us at ThunderBandWelcome@gmail.com, and we will try our best to answer your questions.

Once you determine that Marching Band is the right activity for you (and we hope it is!), follow the steps under “Getting Started” below to register.

Getting Started

  • Student ID Number

You will need a Student ID Number to register. For New DV Students, use your middle school id number.  Your DV id number will be issued in July at book distribution.  You will need to update your id number in RegisterMyAthlete (RMA) at that time.

  • Get Your AIA Clearance

    Online at:
    www.registermyathlete.com/schools

Start the clearance process as soon as possible, and add the required documentation later. This is a separate registration from MB registration. You must complete both.

  • Get Your Sports Physical

See your own doctor or attend a Sports Physical event offered at DV. Doctor must complete and sign the required forms available through the AIA registration link above. Completed documents must then be added to your AIA paperwork to complete your clearance.

  • Register For Marching Band

This is separate from AIA Clearance paperwork. It gives us the band-specific information we need to place you in our program.
Click here to go to the Registration page.

  • Attend A New Member Help Session

    Not required but strongly encouraged

Sports Physical must be completed after March 1, 2018
AIA Clearance must be completed before April 30, 2018

  • You may start the registration process and add the additional “E-SIGNATURE” documents at a later date.
  • Students will not be able to participate in any Marching Band activities after May 15th without this process being completed.
  • Create only ONE account per family
  • Main login should be the primary guardian – not the student
  • Registration year = 2018-2019
  • Sport = Band
  • DV Athletic Fee is paid directly to Desert Vista during book distribution in July
  • All additional Marching Band fees are paid directly to DVBB

For more information on the DV Activities Registration process, please contact Becky Richardson (DV Activities Office) at brichardson@tempeunion.org, (480) 706-7946

What About Parents and Guardians?

We need your help, too! Our band program could not function without our volunteer organization, the Desert Vista Band Boosters (DVBB). Our volunteers help us transport our equipment (“Band Roadies”), alter and upkeep our concert and marching uniforms, raise funds, organize food and refreshments for our students, take photos and videos, and many other behind the scenes tasks that keep everything running smoothly.

Please visit our Committee Descriptions page to find out more about the DVBB and how you can help.
