Band Booster Board Election Nominations

Hello Members,

Part of the success of the Thunder Band is the wealth of experiences band parents possess and their willingness to share their expertise in assisting with the band program and events! One way to assist is to serve on the Thunder Band Executive Board.

Desert Vista Band Booster Elections

Our bylaws, which are governed by our parent organization, Thunder Board, call for annual elections of executive officers for the Desert Vista Band Boosters.

Elections will be held on April 10th, 2023 at 6 pm.

Parents and Guardians of current students in the band program are eligible to be nominated, and to vote.

The nomination process is:

  1. Nominations for candidates are made to the nominating committee.
  2. Nominations will be taken through midnight, March 22nd.
  3. The nominating committee will work with candidates to confirm interest.
  4. Biographies and statements of interest for the candidates will be posted on the Band website during the week of March 25th.
  5. Members may nominate themselves or other current members.
  6. Nominations may be submitted to the nominating committee.
  7. Elections will be held on April 10th, 2023 at 6 pm.

The executive board positions are described below. 

President: 

The President shall preside at all meetings of the Executive Committee and general membership, and shall have charge and control over the affairs of the organization, subject to the Executive Committee.  While annual elections will be held, it is desired that anyone willing to run for President be willing to commit to serve for at least two years.

Vice President:

The Vice President shall perform such duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Executive Committee and/or the President. In case of disability or absence of the President, he/she shall perform and be vested with all power and duties of the President. The Vice President shall represent the “Band Boosters” at all Desert Vista High School membership drive functions. The Vice President shall be empowered to sign checks authorizing payment of valid debts.  The Vice President shall oversee and coordinate the activities of the Sponsorship and Fundraising chairs.

Secretary:

The secretary shall record accurately the proceedings of all membership and Executive Committee meetings, and shall give meeting notices as required. The Secretary shall have custody of all books, records, and papers other than financial and membership.

Treasurer:

The treasurer shall keep accounts of all money received or disbursed by the organization, and shall deposit all money and valuables in the name of and credit to the organization in such banks and depositories as the Executive Committee shall designate. The Treasurer shall be empowered to sign checks authorizing payment of valid debts.

Thunder Board Representative: The TB Representative will act as the liaison between the Thunder Board and the DVHS Thunderband Booster Club. The Thunder Board Representative will: (a)  Represent the corresponding Booster Club at the Thunder Board All Clubs monthly meetings. (b)  Keep the corresponding Booster Club informed of policies, procedures, and rules of the Thunder Board. (c)  Keep the Thunder Board informed of corresponding Club’s officers, officer’s contact information, events, activities, finances, meetings, and proposed fundraising events.   (d) Relay Thunder Board minutes to corresponding Booster Club. (e) Take notes at all Thunder Board All Clubs meetings and communicate in a timely manner these notes with the corresponding Booster Club’s Executive Officers.   (f) Attend all Thunder Board All Clubs monthly meetings.

We need leadership for the organization to continue as a strong support for the band program.

In view of this, we respectfully request that there is no "campaigning" for the election, or use of social media for or against a nominee.
